BANDAI NAMCO does 'Miles for Smiles'

Added 09.02.21

If we’re usually grabbing Life by the Horns, we’re now grabbing Lockdown by the Halo with a bacta-initiated exercise fundraiser “designed to give us all some much-needed fun and exercise as well as raising some money for the Bacta Charitable Trust.” as spoken by John White, Chief Executive of bacta.

We decided to embrace the fun part first to get us off to a flying start with a bit of photoshop, seeing as though one of our members is the Graphics and Product Design Manager – Amreet! Participating with a fusion team, that’s the three angels from BANDAI NAMCO Amusement Europe Ltd. and one Kev from Namco UK Ltd, we’ll gratefully accept donations of any size!

This year Bacta Charitable Trust will have been running for 30 years and in that time has raised a total of £3.25m for good causes including the Princes Youth Business Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, British Institute for Brain Injured Children and Fairbridge, which helps mentor disengaged young people.

This latest drive “Miles for Smiles” has the goal at heart of fundraising for the Trust but is also a brilliant way for our industry to focus on something besides the doom and gloom that has been looming over us this past year.

It’s a two-month long stretch, ending on March 30th and requires members to log their exercise into a purpose-built website, whether that be walking, cycling, rowing, dancing or aerobics. The website’s algorithms then does the job of converting it into ‘Smile Miles’.

We have admittedly entered into the system a week late, but everyone loves an underdog… or more specifically, an underangel, and we’ll be making up those lost miles over the coming weeks.

Click here to donate and help give us some much-needed wind beneath our wings!
